A citizen utility advisory board tonight rejected a proposed 7 percent hike in sewer rates this year, citing an inability to square the rate increase with a decision by City Council this week to spend $20 million on “green street” features.
The vote by the Portland Utility Review Board to reject the proposed 2010-11 environmental services budget was unanimous. Their comments were tart, even as they acknowledged that the people who should be hearing them – Portland Mayor Sam Adams and the rest of the City Council – were not present.
